Classes are open to students of ALL skill levels an experience. Since drawing is fundamental to all of the visual arts, this class is STRONGLY recommended for students wanting to develop and/or improve their drawing and painting skills.
Each class consists of a lecture and demonstration by the instructor followed by in-class participation by the students in various studio projects. Students will receive individual guidance as well as a professional critique of their work. Students will produce one drawing per week, or in some instances students may spend two weeks on a single drawing, depending on the difficulty of the subject.
The class will address the use of the design elements of line, shape, value, color and texture along with discussions on the design principles of Balance, Proportion, Movement, Repetition, Unity and Economy. An introduction to various types of drawing mediums and techniques will also be covered.
Students will receive a royalty-free reference image to work from for each drawing which will then be
discussed and used to practice various drawing techniques. Composition and appropriate techniques will be gone over and demonstrated in class. While students will be given time in class to work on the drawing, some time outside of the class (optional) may be needed in order to complete it.
