What is so great about colored pencil is that it takes little to get started: pencils, paper and a few tools. There’s no setup, no cleanup, no health concerns. You need just a small space to work in. Colored pencil like any other medium starts with technique and patience, as it is a building process of blending many layers of a combination of colors.
I have often been told they can't believe a drawing is created with colored pencil. If you love to draw, you will be amazed at what you can create.
Materials:
- Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils, softcore, 150-count (do not buy another brand or lesser count. Best buys are online at Amazon.)
- Prismacolor Colorless blender
- Paper quality is important. Recommended brand is: Stonehenge Legion (white - 100% cotton) 11x14
- Scrubber Brush
- Pencil Sharpener: Afmat Battery run sharpener (No hand held sharpeners)
- Drafting brush or large soft watercolor brush (can use an old brush)
- Drafting Pencil 0.5 size
- Kneaded Eraser
- Embossing Stylus Tools (small sizes)
- Saral Transfer Paper-Graphite color (comes in a roll)
- Red Ball Point Pen
- Each Project for the month will have the photos and colored pencil supply list used for that project. You can print them yourself or they can be purchased for a $5 fee.
Objectives:
- There are many different techniques to using colored pencils. You will learn how to blend and burnish colored pencil, which can replicate other mediums.
