This class is designed to teach students some basic and advanced watercolor skills. It is intented to provide professional instruction to each student regarding washes, texture techniques and layering pigments to get a deeper and more photo realistic result. This class is work at your own pace. Each class will begin with instruction and discussion for the project. Remember we are here to have a good time but we are also here to learn.
Materials Provided by Instructor:
Graphite Transfer Paper, Original design and layout, masking tape/watercolor tape
Materials Provided by Student:
1. Students should bring one set of watercolor paints that include:
Titanium White, Cad Yellow Light, Yellow Ochre, Cad Red Light, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Cerulean Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Sap Green, Alizarin Crimson and Dark Purple
2. 2" Paint Brush and various sized brushes
3. Masking Fluid with application nibs (Amazon $11.99)
4. 0.05 Mechanical Pencil
5. Red Pen (fine tip)
6. 12x18 Watercolor Paper (Strathmore 140 lb. cold press) Amazon $24.33
7. Drawing Board or stretching board
8. Students should bring an art shirt or apron to protect clothing
9. Bring food or snacks or plan on cafe food and beverage
Objectives:
Students will learn how to stretch paper, compose the layout, color blending and layering of pigments. Since this is a realism instruction, students will learn pigment mixing skills to improve the depths and overall work and will leave with a finished ready to frame piece of art.
